“Legal issues surrounding Home Education, both elective and unplanned”
Alice has recently been seconded to OFSTED to assist with the home education consultation, which centred on the role of the local authority and whether a new system is required with heavier state oversight/ parent registration. She also worked over the years with a lot of parents of excluded school children, or those who have children with SEN, who have had to commence unplanned home education for various reasons. During her time at OFSTED, she worked alongside Professor Daniel Monk, who will be joining Alice for her talk. He was the author of ‘Regulating Home Education: Negotiating Standards, Anomalies and Rights’ (2009) Child and Family Law Quarterly.
